My Love for Baseball Anime

I'm not a fan of the sport baseball itself but I can tell you that I'm a baseball anime fan. I don't know how I was hooked into it, but I actually learned baseball rules roughly through anime. And I'm proud of this achievement because I came to love watching baseball anime. 💘 So even if you're not a fan of baseball and if you don't mind learning a new sport, why not try watching an anime about baseball?

So far, I've watched 4 baseball anime: Ace of Diamond (Diamond no Ace), Big Wind Up! (Ookiku Furikabutte! aka Oofuri), Major and One Outs. Although they are all about baseball, their themes are very different from one another. And I'm here to introduce each of them!

Ace of Diamond ダイヤのA

If you like an anime full of action, then this one's for you. It follows Eijun Sawamura as he strives to improve his baseball skills to conquer the ace position at Seido High School. He was invited by Rei Takashima from Seido to play at their school, because she saw potential in him with his unique pitching style. At first, he was hesitant because he thought that he'd be betraying his teammates, as they promised one another to go to the National Championship (Koshien) together. But when he experienced playing at Seido firsthand because Kiyokuni Azuma triggered him, he couldn't forget the sensation as Kazuya Miyuki led him to win against Azuma. Thus, his baseball adventure with Seido begins!

Big Windup! おおきく振りかぶて!

Even though it's a sport anime, in contrast to Ace of Diamond, this one is a very warm anime. Although Ren Mihashi loves playing baseball, he has a low self-esteem when it comes to it, because his middle school team kept losing with him as the ace. This became apparent when he started high school at Nishiura High School. With his new teammates, will he fare well?

Major メジャー

More than action, this one follows a story of never giving up your dream. Major starts with Goro Honda (later Goro Shigeno) as a child and continues until he's an adult. He's a baseball maniac that no matter happens, he will never let go of any opportunity just to play baseball, which you will understand through the struggles he will face and overcome as a baseball player all his life.

One Outs ワンナウツ

I can't remember the details about this one, but it definitely gave me a cool impression of the leading character, as he uses his mental capability to defeat his opponents in baseball. If you're in for a psychological genre, then try watching One Outs!

"A low possibility means it's not zero."
